Commodore N D Squire
CBE, FNI, FCMI, Royal Fleet Auxiliary (Rtd)

Commodore David Squire is a Master Mariner and
experienced senior manager.

He is the editor of Alert!, the award-winning
International Maritime Human Element Bulletin,
and the editor of the Journal of the Honourable
Company of Master Mariners.  He was a consultant
editor to the Lloyd’s Register publication The Human Element- an introduction and was a consultant to Lloyd’s Register in the formulation of their Human Element Gap Analysis project.

He is the general secretary to the Marine Accident Investigators’ International Forum (MAIIF), an international non-profit organisation dedicated to the advancement of maritime safety and to the prevention of marine pollution through the exchange of ideas, experiences and information acquired in marine accident investigation.

He is the Chairman of the Merchant Navy Training Board, the UK shipping industry’s central body for promoting and developing seafarer education, training and skills, which he will take over on 1 April 2010.

As an Elder Brother of Trinity House he is the Director of Maritime Training responsible for the Trinity House Merchant Navy Scholarship Scheme; and for the Professional Yachtsman Bursary Scheme.
